to freeze tō / kōru The fridge and the rain — a cold that preserves and kills at once.
Rain falls inside the fridge. Puddles are scattered all over the flat. I decided you won't find me among them And hung over the water, waiting for frost to take the rain's place. Hail hammers inside the fridge. And I thought there would be a thaw. I'm not exactly glad, but, to be honest, I'm content that the puddles are locked in ice and look like a baking tray. Inside the fridge — strangely quiet. I caught myself thinking April flew by too wild, and May is racing the same way. Of course none of this looks much like paradise, but I believed the sun would give heat, And from this cold flat wet with boredom I'd run flat out to where it's already dawn.
